General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has commended the recently promoted generals and senior officers for their exemplary service to Uganda.
During the pipping ceremony at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs headquarters in Mbuya Friday afternoon, General Kainerugaba praised the officers for setting high standards for their successors.
The ceremony saw the decoration of five Brigadiers and eighteen Colonels with their new ranks.
General Kainerugaba noted that their promotion is a recognition of their significant contributions to the nation’s defence and a testament to their potential.
He emphasized that their ability to navigate challenging situations has set a high benchmark for their followers.
The event was attended by senior UPDF leaders, including Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lieutenant General Sam Okiding, Commander of Land Forces Lieutenant General Kayanja Muhanga, Commander Airforce Lieutenant General Charles Okidi, and Chief of Joint Staff Major General Jack Bakasumba. Other generals in attendance included Major General Francis Okello, Major General Bob Ogiki, and Brigadier General Abdul Rugumayo.
Brigadier General Wilberforce Sserunkuma, the most senior among those decorated, expressed gratitude to General Kainerugaba for recommending them to the Commander-in-Chief for promotion.
He acknowledged the increased responsibility that comes with their new ranks and urged his colleagues to demonstrate greater determination and zeal in serving Uganda.
