Date For FUFA Drum Final Confirmed: Lango Vs Busoga

The FUFA Drum tournament organizing committee chairman, Rogers Byamukama, has announced Saturday, March 23, 2024, as the exact date for the long-awaited inter-province final between Lango province and Busoga province.

In a joint press conference held at FUFA House in Mengo this Thursday, Byamukama reaffirmed that the final drum match will indeed take place on the aforementioned date at the MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo.

Byamukama also addressed concerns about the limited seating capacity of the stadium, revealing that only 6,000 tickets will be available for sale.

Of these, 3000 tickets will be allocated for both provinces participating in the final (1500 tickets per team), priced at Shs. 20,000 each, while the remaining 3000 tickets will be exclusively sold via MTN Mobile Money to the other fans outside the two finalists.

“We would like to apologize to Ugandans who feel the capacity of the stadium is too small,” said Byamukama, acknowledging the frustrations of fans unable to secure tickets.

He continued, “We are going to do everything in our capacity to welcome the 6,000 fans and make sure they exit properly.”

This development comes in the wake of discontent expressed by officials from Lango province, who threatened to withdraw from the final provided the scheduled date and venue remained unchanged.

According to the FUFA Drum Competition Rules, “In the event that the team that qualified for the semi-final or final of the competition withdraws or is eliminated as a result of disciplinary action, it will be replaced by the team that lost to it.”

Hence, Lango province can be replaced by West Nile province, whom they eliminated in the semis (2-1) on aggregate, if they pull out of the final.

Busoga province eliminated Teso province 3-1 on aggregate to reach this far
